How are these deals possible?
- At various times before a scheduled flight (9 months, 6 months, 3 months, etc), if airlines don’t have enough seats booked, they slash prices on a handful of seats to get them filled.
- They’re not advertised because fares are rarely for more than 6 or 8 seats. As soon as they book them, prices go back up.
- Airlines have pretty sophisticated booking systems so it only happens about once every few hundred flights, but when they happen – my team and I make it our job to find them.
- When you see a trip you like, there is plenty of advance notice to plan ahead for vacation time. All you have to do is book it through the travel site of your choice.
